Special Preference for Ph.D. Candidates:
Ph.D. Chemistry holders are usually preferred in:

BARC, DRDO, CSIR Labs, ISRO, NPCIL

Specialized roles in fuel technology, polymer science, nuclear chemistry, environmental monitoring, etc.
- Appear for GATE exam in the relevant paper.
- Apply for PSU job notifications (separately from GATE application).
- Shortlisting is usually based on GATE score, followed by:
- Group Discussion (GD)
- Personal Interview (PI)
- Sometimes medical or psychometric tests

GATE CH is often needed, but not always mandatory—some PSUs conduct their own tests.

For research-intensive roles (BARC, CSIR, DRDO), Ph.D. is a big plus or required.

PSUs may release recruitment notifications with very specific age and category criteria, especially for M.Sc. and Ph.D. roles.
